Actually... I do need some.. [ His voice trails off and then suddenly the somber tone is gone like he's shoving all that away. ]

Nah, don't worry about it. Just... Don't let the Quack near me ok? Er, Knock Out I mean.

[he cringes a little inwardly at that, but moves past it quickly. this isn't about him.]

I get that a lot. I'll talk to Knock Out, don't worry. [...] What would you like? It's alright, I'm not going to judge or lecture you. I just wanna help.

I had a large artifact inside me for a while... It was recently [traumatically] removed. But I'm kind of worried my gears are all fracked up from it no longer being in place. I don't want you to look directly in, just like. X ray me or something?

[ He sounds so unsure of this being a good call, but this is a Ratchet. Ratchet he trusts. Might not be his.. but... he ain't gonna be weird. ]

That's understandable. I'd be worried about that too. [he hums.] If all you want is a basic scan like that, then I can do it here on Etis instead of getting back onto the ship. Or would you rather go to the medibay? I'll find us somewhere private either way.

I'm gonna be honest, Doc. I don't want to be in a medical room for some time. But I don't want this like, getting out. Etis sounds fine, just, let's find a room do a quick scan and then I can get some racing underway.

[he's pretty sure racing will be a terrible idea, but he won't say anything until he's actually seen the results. ratchet pings over a location - a small relaxation waiting room just off the main pools.]

Thanks, Doc. This means alot.

[ It won't take long before Smokescreen has made it to the waiting rooms. Nice and empty. He takes a seat and ignores the phantom feeling of something in his chest. He has an image of of the key and a size reference to his hand to show the doctor in his datapad... and now he waits.]

[botopsy]

[ratchet's there already, speaking to one of the staff members. he saunters over just after smokescreen arrives, already recognising the kid as someone from knock out's universe. not that him asking if knock out could be kept away from him was a huge clue, or anything...

he smiles amiably when he's close enough, holding a hand out for a handshake.]

Mornin'! I'm Ratchet. You're Smokescreen, yeah? I'm sure you are, but it's polite to make sure I'm doing medical procedures on the right person.

[ He sits up straighter, his doors flick a hello. ]

That's me alright! Elite Guard, Smokescreen. Pleasure to meet you, Ratchet.

[ His wings dip nervously, and Smokescreen takes a vent out of air to calm. Takes his hand and gives a firm handshake. Smiling again, like there's nothing really that wrong.]

So I got some data that might help with determining if things are gunky inside. [ He gets out his data pad and shows the images of the large rusted looking Omega key. Smokey realizes as he's looking at it again, he might actually need to clean his inside of rust soon.. Fragging pit holes. ]

[botopsy]

Elite Guard, huh? I'm honoured. [he can see smokescreen is trying to calm himself, so he doesn't say anything or make any sudden moves. ratchet shifts to sit next to him.] Let me have a quick look at that before I scan ya.

[he can't quite help his optical ridges flying up before he composes himself.]

I think I'll have to give you somethin' when we're back on the ship to flush that rust out.

Yeah, it's nothing in need of immediate looking at though right... or at least if things go fine with the scan. I really don't want any examines... I uh... you won't tell anyone this if you don't need to.

but I was just on a Decepticon ship before arriving on the R2... I was making an escape. When I was up there... they didn't quite tear out the key.. but.. they kind of tore out the key.

[ He waves his hand dismissively. ] I just want to make sure I can still alt fine.

[botopsy]

Patient confidentiality. I won't be telling anyone whatsoever. [he holds his arm computer out to scan over smokescreen, standing silently while he explains himself, expression crimping a little.] I see.

[the device finishes its job, and ratchet looks over the logs.]

Your t-cog is out of place, so... I wouldn't recommend using your alt until I can do surgery to re-align it. It's completely fixable, so you don't need to panic.

What! No! I need to be able to drive!! That's the whole point of me being down here, to drive, relax and streach!

[ he protests and slumps pouting. ]

Can't you like, just push it into place or somethin' real quick?

[botopsy]

I can, but you will need surgery to get it to stay. If I do this, it could fall back out any time you transform and become even more damaged.

[he awkwardly pats smokescreen's shoulder.]

Will you promise not to go too hard on the racing if I do it? I'll-- come and help you if something happens, but I don't want to enable you, especially if it's something you're doing to cope with... y'know.

[greenhorndestiny]

Look, Ratchet... I'll be careful. I just Don't want to be stuck without any way to- [ escape] let off steam.

I'm a careful driver. I promise.

[botopsy]

[he watches smokescreen for a long few moments, clearly weighing the decision. after a few moments he decides there's no way he won't do it and leave smokescreen with a damaged t-cog.]

Alright, stand up. It'll hurt, but just for a moment.

[greenhorndestiny]

[ He hesitates but not for long. Standing and being still for the good doctor. ]

I can handle anything. Don't worry about hurting me, Doc

I wouldn't be very good at my job if I didn't worry about hurting people.

[he rounds to smokescreen's back, putting one hand on his shoulder and another on his waist.]

Alright, one... two... [ratchet wrenches smokescreen back and-- yeah, it'll be unpleasant, but he'll feel his t-cog slot back into where it should go.]

[greenhorndestiny]

[ SMokescreen makes a small meep and gasp of pain. Then as it all settles his body relaxes and you can hear his gears slide gently into their proper spot... for now. ]

Thanks a dozen, Ratchet..

[botopsy]

[he rounds back to the front and gives smokescreen a hearty slap on the shoulder.]

No problem! Go have fun. Not too much! But have fun.

You got it sir! [ And off he runs. Looking back once, finally out the door. Going straight for the race tracks. ]
